I have been researching my family tree for many years, and subscribe to various mailing lists on Rootsweb in particular Yorksgen, where I have received a great deal of help in breaking down my brick walls. A few years ago I bought a tatty copy of Pigots 1834 Directory of Yorkshire and decided to transcribe it. This took about 18 months to complete and for a while I hosted the transcript on a website so that other genealogists could access it free of charge, this was my way of giving something back to those who had helped me. One day whilst nosing around at a car boot sale I found two directories and negotiated a bargain price for them and decided to scan them to CD and offer them for sale on my website and also on EBay. I had now got the bug and further books were purchased over the next few years and scanned to CD, and offered for sale at low prices.
