If you can dish it out, this keyboard can take it. The adjustable backlighting technology helps you play in low-level light conditions, giving you total control over your gaming experience. Backlighting is also useful in low-light office conditions, such as conference rooms and classrooms. It is useful where the lights have been dimmed for viewing videos or films. Users who want to work late at night without turning a light on will likewise value the backlit keyboard. The Logitech G710 Plus uses Cherry MX Brown mechanical switches. The switches are quiet, and there is a good amount of springiness when they come back up. The keys themselves are comfortable, and slight indentations help keep your fingers where you want them whether you are in the midst of an intense gaming session or typing up a paper. Each mechanical key is highly responsive and will keep up with even faster typists with ease. Simultaneous keypresses present no problem, which will recognize more than 10 keys held down at the same time. It features six programmable G-keys, which can be linked to macros by downloading a free application from Logitech. Once the software is installed, three custom profiles can be created, each with different macros. With the software, macros can be recorded on the fly, which leaves more time to play games. In addition, there is a set of multimedia buttons and a volume roller for fast and convenient access to playback functionality. The game switch mode allows you to disable certain hotkeys or key combinations to prevent accidental keystrokes. This ensures you stay on task as you play, every time. The G-keys are offset from the main keys and bordered by an orange band, making them easily identifiable. The WASD and arrow keys are a different color than the rest, making them stand out. The Logitech G710 Plus is compatible with all versions of the Windows Operating System, starting with Windows Vista, and with Mac OSX 10.6 or later. It includes a USB port, allowing for easy connection of other peripherals to the keyboard. The bottom has cable management channels that keep cables connected to the hardware neat and tidy. The keyboard dimensions are 1.5 inches in height, 20 inches wide, and 8.7 inches deep. The cable is 6.6 feet long and connects to the computer via USB 2.0.
