I found a remote on amazon, and was able to adjust the contrast to get a good picture in the user settings. HDCP means that Bluray players need to be downscaled to 720p in order to transmit visual information through the HDMI inputs but other than that a $50 purchase has made me a very happy cinephile. Champion!
