These things are great. They reduce the fan speed AND they increase the fan speed beyond plugging in directly. They do this by stepping up the voltage (boost) for the output at its highest output and then have the dial knob to adjust it down from there to the speed of your liking and preference. Ingenious!

Have purchased a second because of the following: Not mentioned within the description, this adjuster is both a “Buck” (to reduce voltage) and a “Boost” (to increase voltage) device. Effectively, it will adjust and slow your fan speed from direct input RPM, AND, it will also adjust and over-speed RPM from direct input, seamlessly. I LOVE THIS unexpected FEATURE!¡! This is why I immediately purchased a second one and a pair of the higher capacity ones.
