Reviews
"It is a highly readable and conceptually rich book drawing on material from ethnographic work in Kalymnos, Greece, and popular culture in the USA. It beautifully wedges current discussions about cooking into the stream of scholarly discussion in Cultural Anthropology and Cultural Sociology." * Krishnendu Ray, New York University "This book constitutes a moment in which the systematic and long-standing knowledge of [the author's] field, and the very rewarding trajectory of fieldwork over the years, has now reached a point when they can produce anthropological knowledge of another level." * Vassiliki Yiakoumaki, University of Thessaly, Greece, "With writing that is highly readable, clear, and well-paced, this book will appeal to students and scholars alike, especially those studying food and cooking, Greece, and risk, and is an exceptional example of studying food practices for their theoretical bounty." * Food, Culture & Society "It is a highly readable and conceptually rich book drawing on material from ethnographic work in Kalymnos, Greece, and popular culture in the USA. Synopsis
What defines cooking as cooking, and why does cooking matter to the understanding of society, cultural change and everyday life? This book explores these questions by proposing a new theory of the meaning of cooking as a willingness to put oneself and one's meals at risk on a daily basis, with examples from the author's fieldwork in Greece., What defines cooking as cooking, and why does cooking matter to the understanding of society, cultural change and everyday life? This book explores these questions by proposing a new theory of the meaning of cooking as a willingness to put oneself and one's meals at risk on a daily basis. Richly illustrated with examples from the author's anthropology fieldwork in Greece, Bigger Fish to Fry proposes a new approach to the meaning of cooking and how the study of cooking can reshape our understanding of social processes more generally.

- e***- (122)- 買家留下的信用評價。過去 1 個月購買已獲認證Unfortunately I received a damaged book, the item and the package both were damaged and it was clearly evident its appearance that it happened during transit. The seller was very understanding and gave me a full refund for the damaged book, though it was no fault of their own. Other than the damage, the book was as described, the quality and condition aside from the damaged spot was like new. The cost of the book was reasonable. I would definitely purchase from the seller again.
- 7***j (862)- 買家留下的信用評價。過去 1 個月購買已獲認證I recently purchased an item from this eBay seller, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. From the prompt communication to the fast shipping, everything was handled with utmost professionalism. The item arrived exactly as described and was well packaged to ensure its safety during transit. The seller was courteous and responsive, making the entire transaction smooth and hassle-free. I highly recommend this seller to anyone looking for quality products and excellent service.
- 5***i (74)- 買家留下的信用評價。過去 1 個月購買已獲認證Arrived on time. Packaging was lacking, product damaged in two places during shipping due to inadequate padding within the packaging. I can live with it seeing as I don't want to hunt down and pay for another copy... Item was as described minus the damage to the spine of the book in one place from the thin plastic wrapping not providing any rigidity or padding. This is the first time I have encountered this problem with this Fantastic seller. Excellent value. Thank you
