Its author, Anna Gasco, is an urbanist by trade at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture, and the book has its origin in her Ph.D. thesis. By looking at Singapore's noted airport, a lot of useful information about the country can be discovered. Whilst the intended audience is probably those engaged in urbanism, one wishing to know more about the political economy of Singapore should find this an interesting read. The book is accessible to those without an in-depth knowledge of the location, with plenty of maps and images depicting the geography covered. I doubt that Gasco intended to contribute to the 'Singapore discourse' described above, but by describing an institution that is central to Singapore, its primary international airport, she reveals much. The apolitical and objective nature of the book is certainly to its benefit.
