I received an iPad with a faulty battery which I immediately noticed so not sure how a “professional” didn’t. The iPad was dead on arrival, was still not fully charged over 3 hours later and was boiling hot. When unplugged it would say it was still charging for 20 seconds. It also wouldn’t update and wouldn’t connect to a laptop to force the update through iTunes.
