They're described as satin, but I found them to be rough, not very satin smooth as I'd expected. For my need, they'll do, but if I'd wanted them to use for gifting say wedding favors or the like, I definitely wouldn't be happy and would've returned them. I bought 2 sizes, 6x9 inch, & 4x6 inch. Found them both to be of same quality. On 1 of the smaller ones, the string broke!
