"Digimon World DS" was developed and released in November 2006 by Bandai Namco Games exclusively for the Nintendo DS. It is the first in the Digimon story series of games, and the first Digimon game to appear on the Nintendo DS. "Digimon World" is of the RPG genre, but rather than focusing on individual characters, the player instead becomes a Digimon Tamer. You work to befriend and raise wild Digimon while gathering resources. These resources can be given to your favorite monster to help it in battle with enemies. You can also use resources to transform some Digimon into rare forms for superior fighting effectiveness. Several new Digimon types and forms were introduced in this game, and there are 230 unique Digimons in the game.In the world of Digimon, the story focuses completely on befriending and helping the digital creatures that inhabit the Digiverse. There are numerous rogue agents and enemies to fight. However, the primary purpose of these battles is to train the player in how the game is played, and help them level up their team to be more prepared for combat with other players. Short videos and other demonstrations within the game display the basics, and the rest of the game is learned through challenges and exploration.Players can explore the wilderness areas to encounter new creatures, which they can defeat for combat experience or capture to train them for more combat later. Each creature has its sprites and animations and can be interacted with via the touch screen. The creature will need to be fed, cared for, and put through a series of training exercises so that it can do its best in combat. Players can access in-game guides to determine the best way to raise their new friends. The guides can also help players learn about the strengths and abilities of each creature as well as its subsequent evolutions.The primary focus of the gameplay in "Digimon World" is in the multiplayer mode. In addition to using the Nintendo DS local Wi-Fi service, it is possible to connect to the Nintendo online play servers and challenge other gamers from all over the world. Players can use any of the creatures they have captured and trained within their campaign, and their statistics and results are recorded for bragging rights and subsequent training. While online, players can also trade Digimon and help one another collect a complete set of monsters. This enables players to be better prepared for the campaign, fill potential weaknesses in their team, or exchange rare evolved forms of certain monsters."Digimon World DS" is a deep game with many hundreds of hours of gameplay. The single-player campaign serves as an excellent tutorial for the mechanics, helping players to develop the skills they need to engage in multiplayer battles. These battles can be conducted in person or over the internet, enabling players to test the skills they've developed against their friends or random opponents. The system is designed to ensure that cheats are not used and that matches are as fair as possible.
