Exquisite and accessible -- enjoyed by those who know piano solos well and those who are new to the beauty of Classical music. These pieces soothe the soul, and serve to transport the listener into another realm. They are the jewels of Classical piano music. The Brahms selections are his most beloved piano solos. Written late in life he wrote in his notebooks that if more than one person were in the room at the time they were being played, it would be too many. They are that precious and intimate. The Chopin selections are familiar to those who know and love piano literature. The first, his only Beceuse, or cradle song, offers a mesmerizing bass of rocking, rocking and the lyrical melody is gives song to the soul in flight as the infant sleeps. Scriabin, the Russian mystic -- he believed he could levitate! Much influenced by Chopin, these selections are his less complex compositions, with captivating, tonal colors. This album, as all of Margot\'s albums, showcases women composers as well as the men of the Classical cannon. Clara Wieck-Schumann, we know as Robert\'s wife. But she had a huge following as she concertized all over Europe. She wrote beautiful music as well as editing Robert Schumann\'s pieces. Germaine Tailleferr, the only woman in \'Les Six\' the French Impressionist musicians of the 20th century. Dianne Goolkasian Rahbee, a contemporary composer living in the Boston area, who often derives her melodies from her Armenian roots. Ending with Koharik Gazarossian, born in Constantinople and then Paris. Her etudes reflect the early liturgical chants and village songs of her Armenian heritage. Her set of 24 Etudes follow the framework of Chopin\'s. She weaves the Middle East and the French tradition into a mysterious and haunting composition. This album is a great gift for yourself or someone you know who is seeking music for the soul ! Margot graduated from Northwestern University\'s School of Music with a performance degree in harp. She earned a Master\'s in Education (Guidance Counseling Major) from Loyola University of Chicago. Further study includes The Guild for Spiritual Guidance, a Certificate for introductory courses in "Music for Healing" from the New School in NYC and piano study with Maria Cisyk in NYC (Juilliard, BMu, Mmu; Yale MMu, PhD.) Took over 10 days to ship - lazy description that read see photos- I have had hundreds of incredible experiences on eBay and to give this seller a positive review discounts the shops that go above and beyond. This was not a 100% great experience. I received my items 14 days after purchase and arrived in condition shown in photos, but as points made above it is not a seller I would score 100% or recommend.
