The package was new unopened, but the heavy hard tool steel piece is in same bag as the softer aluminum drift pieces which had several noticable nicks (visual and touch) from banging around. The pieces are only wrapped in tissue paper providing very little if any protection against the harder tool steel. And they took a long time to ship. No point in getting replacement. New would be the same. Wish I'd bought DT tool kit.
