Product Information

Feminist ethics addresses how power, through gender, affects moral practice and theory. This enterprise is more important than ever before in an age of sharpened attention and concern for feminist issues and injustices. Yet the number of terms which have entered mainstream discussion can quickly overwhelm the novice: intersectionality, gender neutrality, androcentrism. An Invitation to Feminist Ethics offers an easy-to-understand, hospitable approach to the study of feminist moral theory and practice from a renowned ethicist, underscoring its need and the clarifying light it casts on some of the most pressing topics in contemporary society. The work surveys feminist ethical theory, beginning with an explanation of ethics, feminism, and gender before discussing the concepts of discrimination, oppression, gender neutrality, and androcentrism. The work further discusses in-depth intersectionality and microagressions before examining personal identities and how identities are vulnerable to oppression, and what can be done about it. The book also includes a helpful overview of three standard moral theories--social contract theory, utilitarianism, and Kantian ethics--and a discussion of their failings from a feminist point of view, followed by introductions to feminist care theory and feminist responsibility ethics. A "close-ups" section explores three social practices--bioethics, violence, and the globalized economy--within which these concepts are applied, and the need for feminist ethics is most urgent.

Reviews
"Hilde Lindemann has updated her classic, readable text with timely new sections on currently pressing topics and concepts such as intersectionality, sexual harassment, and microaggressions. Lindemann continues to be one of the most engaging voices in feminist philosophy. This new edition is an ideal text for today's students of feminist philosophy, as well as an important contribution to the field in its own right." -- Rebecca Kukla, Georgetown University"Outstanding! With characteristic clarity and insight Lindemann provides a valuable introduction to feminist ethics which is both rigorous and highly accessible." -- Marya Schechtman, University of Chicago at Illinois, "Hilde Lindemann has updated her classic, readable text with timely new sections on currently pressing topics and concepts such as intersectionality, sexual harassment, and microaggressions. This book is useless. All it tells you is what you're going to learn, but it never teaches you anything. It isn't even a book, it's more like a manual. Can't believe how much I paid for this subpar book. I know a s little now as when I started reading.

Sad to say even though it can operate if it's forced during opening the item has a odd defect that has to be corrected somehow by taking the product apart to fix it apparently that shipping it back would be more costly than trying to fix it somehow sadly overall this just ended up having to be the item that was sold by the seller just poor luck to some degree or another I hate to say.
