I have been soaking the rock in paint stripper for days. I still have not removed all the dye or glued-on "natural-looking" sand coating from this rock. I paid $1.25 for something that I am not sure what it is. For all the fake preparation, it probably would have been more profitable to ship an ACTUAL non-gem-quality ruby specimen. I'm not sure of the rock's actual composition, but it lacks the characteristic hexagonal structure of corundum. Pretty red color. Lack's ruby's UV fluorescence.
