Author Alex Leger relives his most memorable moments on location during 36 years as a programme producer and director. He survived storms, landmines, erupting volcanoes, dehydration, food poisoning, tapeworms and attacks with stones and bullets to produce some six hundred films worldwide. Many, like John Noakes climbing Nelson's Column, or Simon Thomas struggling to overcome his fear of parachuting, or Helen Skelton covered in 25,000 bees, became part of the vivid tapestry of Britain's iconic children's programme. The publication of this compelling account of Alex's hits, misses and near-death experiences, coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Blue Peter Badge in spring 2013 which will be celebrated throughout the year. Several Blue Peter programmes will feature the stories of badge winners. Further celebrations will take place for the programme's 55th anniversary in October. It will be featured in national and local press including The Independent, The Lady, Sunday People, Sunday Mirror, Wales on Sunday, Wolverhampton Express and the Star. More features have included Manchester Evening News, Bella, Full House and Closer magazine. Features to come include The Guardian and Saga Magazine. Devon Life also has a 6 page article planned for February. Alex will be on Radio Devon in January and has been on Spotlight, the BBC Southwest evening news programme. Further TV appearances planned include BBC Breakfast and others. alex@bluepetermemory on twitter had nearly 200 followers after the first month and momentum is gaining.
