Bargain Box
The performances and cd transfers on this set are magnificent. I purchased all these symphonies in my teens, when they were released on the budget Decca Eclipse label. Sinfonia Antartica, in that series was actually remastered as a result of me pointing out an audio dicrepancy to Decca, on the original vinyl release. Boult's reading is, in my opinion, significantly superior to his EMI recordings of the same works. This set does not include the later recording of the 9th symphony, but when you can regularly pick this up for between 25/35% of the Decca boxset (same recordings) it represents a fantastic bargain.It shouldn't be difficult to find the 9th at less than £5.00. Thoroughly recommended.
