Canon EOS Rebel XSi 12.2 Megapixel
What's there to say that isn't already known about this camera. It is quite simply, THE BEST beginner's camera out there! By "beginner's camera", I should qualify the statement with "beginning photographer", not like "my 9-year-old daughter as a beginner", beginner. Out of the box, I was most surprised by the weight of the camera, which was unexpectedly light. As I grasped the body of the camera and lifted it gently out of the box, it felt like I was lifting a toy, not a full-sized 35mm camera. My initial response was one of utter-surprise, but having had more time to think about it, I appreciate the light-weight build of the camera as it will make shooting much easier. The construction appears to be sound, not cheap (as can be the case with "light-weight" electronics), but only time will yield how durable the body is. BUT...for now, the light-weight appeal of the camera is strong. One of the appeals of the camera is the EOS Integrated Cleaning System From the Canon site: "The EOS Integrated Cleaning System combats sensor dust in three important ways: Reduce, Repel and Remove. 1. Reduce - Internal camera mechanisms are designed to minimise dust generation. The redesigned body cap prevents dust generation through wear on the cap itself. 2. Repel - Anti-static technologies are applied to the low-pass filter covering the front of the sensor so as not to attract dust. 3. Remove - A Self-Cleaning Sensor Unit uses hi-frequency vibrations to shake dust from the infrared filter for a period of approximately one second after each start up. For instant shooting after power up, this feature is disabled immediately the shutter release is depressed. Canon has also developed an internal Dust Delete Data system, which can map the position of visible dust on the sensor. This can then be deleted automatically after the shoot with the latest Digital Photo Professional software." So far, this technology seems to work very well. After only a few hundred shots, I'm still learning the benefits, but if my pictures continue to turn out as they are now, I will be very happy with this system. The camera I purchased came with the 18-55mm lens, a 75-300mm lens, a 2x Telefoto lens, and a 0.45 Wide Angle. The 18-55mm and 75-300mm lenses are both Canon brand lenses. These provide for adequate distance photography. The 18-55mm is the "standard" photo lens, and functions fine. The 75-300mm lens, however, is a relatively cheap lens. When expanding the zoom, the rotation of the lens cylinder is not smooth. Not only is the rotation not smooth, it is downright "choppy" when turning. While not the end of the world, it introduces a secondary challenge when focusing on an object. I'm sure that a more expensive lens functions at a higher level, but I expected even the stock lens to perform better than this. Image stabalization is wonderful, and the best I've used thus far. Pictures come out extremely clear, even with objects in motion. So far, I can only say that this camera provides everything I need, and gives me a good base to attach lenses to. I would highly recommend it to potential buyers.

Sleeping Beauty Blu-Ray is EXCELLENT!
I'll keep this short and sweet. It's been a treat collecting the Disney classics on DVD over the years, but I was tickled to death to finally get Sleeping Beauty on Blu-Ray. The packaging is on par with standard Disney releases of expanded editions, but superior in the sense that the Blu-Ray is slimmer, making the packaging appear more durable. The picture and sound are tremendous...the best I've seen on Disney DVD. It helps to have a good system though, so your mileage may vary. Regardless, if you own Blu-Ray, you should own this disc, especially if you have children.
